We at Fokkema & Partners see how the needs of work environments have changed over the years. It is not enough anymore to simply create an office with spaces that only focus on working and meeting colleagues.
That is why hospitality concepts are receiving more and more attention in our field of work and therefore play an important role in our designs.
Hybrid working has re-invented the office as a connecting hub.
People have become accustomed to working at any place at any time, which makes them more conscious of what working environments should have to offer.
Hybrid working has re-invented the office as a connecting hub where mental, physical and digital demands are expected to go hand-in-hand and seamlessly merge.
We believe that, by paying more attention to the customer experience in office designs, we strengthen the image of our client’s organisations to attract the best employees out there, contributing to higher employee satisfaction and better productivity.
A hospitality-infused working environment is one in which people feel welcome. This starts with creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. This can be done, for example, by using soft colours, natural materials and comfortable furniture. Also lighting, acoustics and even scent, contribute to a unique customer journey that goes beyond the physical space.
The way people are welcomed and treated plays a very important role. We therefore invest time and energy in mapping out customer and employee journeys. Together with the operating staff, we integrate personal interaction and communication throughout our designs, both analogue and digital.
Strong examples of projects where the power of hospitality is put to its full potential are the Rabobank HQ, where the hospitality concept embraces the local identity of Rotterdam, and The Cath, in which a dim basement has been transformed into a remarkable urban café.
