The season ends and we wave goodbye to our last intern this week. With enthusiasm, the interns shared their Fokkema adventure.
Puck van Bokhoven created an Amsterdam coffee corner and underwater restaurant concept, while Demi Guijt filled spaces with graphic designs. And how do you start designing for a spacious atrium where there is nothing at all yet? Martijn Meekes: “On a large scale, you come across everything from furniture to floor layouts, and you switch between practical and spacious.” Joëlle Blokhuis designed special objects for this atrium, in-between forms as festival installations – real pacemakers!
How to turn the office into a place that workers want to go to?
What would you like to say to upcoming interns? “Despite a few bumps (hello phone service!), it was an unforgettable internship full of highlights.
My design perspective was broadened by exciting projects and collaborations. From concept to final design, I learned quickly and enjoyed the design freedom. Creativity was sparked by colleagues who were always willing to help. Project visits strengthened the team spirit, while I improved my SketchUp skills and discovered the synergy between exterior and interior.”
All have great follow-up plans, from studying at TU Delft to Switzerland, and are full of enthusiasm for the journey ahead. We’re going to miss you guys!
